What a joyous day it was on May 22, 2025 at St. Catherine of Siena in Wichita, as our very own Isaac Hilger was ordained a Transitional Deacon for the Diocese of Wichita!

We are proud of Isaac, a son of our St. Joseph Ost parish, here in Reno County. This ordination marks a significant step on his path to the priesthood, a "yes" to God's call to even deeper service.

Isaac was one of seven seminarians from our diocese who were ordained to the diaconate during this beautiful service. The presence of so many faithful, including the Hilger family, who shared these wonderful pictures, truly made it a special day for all.

As a transitional deacon, Isaac will now serve the Church in many ways, including proclaiming the Gospel, preaching homilies, assisting at Mass, baptizing, and witnessing marriages, as he continues his formation for the priesthood.

Let us keep Deacon Isaac and all our newly ordained deacons in our prayers!
